Hindu Marriage Registration procedure in Delhi
In Delhi, Hindu marriages can be registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. Here is the procedure to register a Hindu marriage in Delhi:Application: The first step is to fill out an application form for marriage registration. The form is available online on the Delhi Government website or at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of your area.
- Required Documents: The following documents are required for marriage registration in Delhi:
- Passport size photographs of the bride and groom
- Aadhaar card or any other proof of identity of both the parties
- Proof of address of both the parties
- Date of birth proof of both the parties (birth certificate or school certificate)
- Marriage invitation card or a joint affidavit by the bride and groom confirming the marriage date and place of marriage
- Divorce decree/order (if any) in case of a previous marriage
- Death certificate of the spouse (if any)
- Verification: Once you submit the application and the required documents, the SDM will verify the documents and conduct an inquiry to ensure that there are no legal hindrances to the marriage.
- Declaration: Both the parties will have to make a declaration confirming that they are not related to each other and that they are getting married with their free consent.
Registration: If the SDM is satisfied with the documents and the inquiry, the marriage will be registered and a certificate will be issued.
Fees: The fee for marriage registration in Delhi is Rs. 500/-.
Note: The marriage registration process should be completed within 60 days of the marriage.
